Well, it wasn’t exactly a futuristic flying car, but with its gull wings and rose-gold exterior, it does look like some graceful golden bird about to take off. Behold the Mercedes-Benz Hawk, refined to perfection by tuning company Hamann Motorsport.

The Mercedes-Benz sports car was improved and upgraded, giving it sharper features for a faster drive. Hamann made sure its partnership with Benz doesn’t go to waste. The exhaust system has been optimized and made out of strong titanium material. A new sports air filter and sports catalysts have been added to increase the Hawk’s flying power, especially once it zooms down the road with its 636 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque.

The 6.2-liter V8 engine helps the super sports car accelerate from zero to sixty miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds with a maximum speed of 199 miles per hour or 320 kilometers per hour. Hamann specifically engineered the Hawk’s engine to match the taste of their upscale sports car clients.

The two-seater also tested its aerodynamics in the wind tunnel, replacing the serial bumper to improve the front axle performance. New LED lights are installed to match the gull wings with side skirts for a much lowered sporty look. With a bit of flying magic, the Hawk can probably fly high with its 60 mm front and 70 mm rear gull wings.

For the interior, Hamann made sure it caters to the VIPs with an extra luxurious lounge sprinkled with a motorsports look. Leather and suede dominate the interior with a new steering wheel and optimized aluminum pedals.

The Hawk’s price list is yet to be released later this year.

From concepts to actual productions, the designs range from electric vehicles to the most exotic supercars. Several automakers chose to reveal their latest productions ahead of time though, weeks and months before the auto show, so most productions didn’t come as a surprise anymore.

Premiere European manufacturer Mercedes-Benz also revealed some of their newest creations on the show. The German automaker revealed an impressive new supercar, much to the delight of Benz fans.

The new Brabus 700 Bi-turbo is a modified version of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and was designed by German aftermarket developer Brabus. True to its name, the Brabus 700 can deliver a tremendous 700 horsepower with its 6.2-liter V8 engine.

Brabus installed a bi-turbo system as part of the upgrade and the supercar can produce 850 Nm of torque. The German developer fitted B63 twin-turbo system on the left side of the engine to improve fuel efficiency and dynamics.

Speed lovers all over the world will probably await the market release of the Brabus with bated breath. The car can go from zero to 62 miles per hour in a scant 3.7 seconds, a speed that could take your breath away and force you back on your seat. The maximum speed of the Brabus is 340 kilometers per hour, a speed that rival most supercars.

To improve the car’s sporty appearance, Brabus modified the rear axle and widened it by 20 mm, adding a wide-body kit called the WIDESTAR. The tires can only be from Pirelli or Yokohama to provide optimum wheel performance.

Italian supercar giant Automobili Lamborghini has recently launched its newest flagship model, the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, the crowned king of all Lamborghini supercars, edging the previous flagship model Murcielago out of the spotlight.

The Aventador is the zenith of all Lamborghini models, an embodiment of the supercar maker’s greatness in sports cars and automotive technology. Lightweight and ultra-fast, the new super vehicle is packed with a 12-cylinder, 6.5-liter engine and could blast down the road at 700 horsepower. Considering it’s a mega-powerful sports car, the Aventador only has an approximate weight of 1,575 kilograms, but thanks to Lamborghini’s technology, its weight did not become a hindrance to its performance. The Aventador can go from zero to 100 kilometers per hour within a mere 2.9 seconds and has a optimum speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

Despite installing an engine of extremely powerful magnitude, Lamborghini managed to lower the Aventador’s carbon emissions and reduce its fuel consumption, a plus for the supercar speed devil. Its predecessor had 20 percent more CO2 emissions but had less power compared to the Aventador.

Stephan Winkelmann, Automobili Lamborghini’s President and CEO, has high praises for the Aventador. “With the Aventador LP 700-4, the future of the super sports car is now part of the present. Its exceptional package of innovative technologies is unique, its performance simply overwhelming.”

The Aventador stayed true to the Lamborghini tradition. The Italian automaker named its new flagship model after a courageous bull from Spanish Corrida. Winkelmann further explains the Aventador’s technology: “The Aventador is a jump of two generations in terms of design and technology… It is unmistakably Italian in its style and perfection.”

Italian automaker Maserati will unleash its new and powerful GranCabrio Sport next month at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show, the newest addition to their long line of bullet-fast sports cars.

The edgier version of the GranCabrio, which was previously unveiled in the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, will match the power of other Maserati productions, specifically the GranTurismo S and the Quattroporte Sport GT S, but the GranCabrio Sport has more tweaks up its sleeve though.

First, it has better fuel efficiency, thanks to Maserati technology and a Friction Reduction Program which reduces your fuel consumption for up to six percent. Aside from that, the GranCabrio Sport is installed with an all-alloy 4.7 liter V8 engine that has ZF six-speed automatic transmission for a more efficient and responsive driving. The six-speed transmission is powered with the MC Auto Shift software technology to provide optimum vehicle engagement and gearshift response. An upgraded and revised handling injected with the Skyhook active-suspension system is matched with sturdy dual-cast brake discs for ultimate braking ability.

As if those torque-increasing features are not enough, Maserati even equipped the GranCabrio Sport with a powerful engine has a capacity of 450 horsepower and a maximum speed of 285 kilometers per hour, making it a truly indomitable sports car.

On the exterior, the GranCabrio Sport looks every bit like a tough sports car with the Maserati Trident mounted on the black grille. The headlights also feature a more upgraded black-and-white look, matching the car’s unique body color—the Rosso Trionfale, inspired by Italy’s national colors.

Get your hands on the Maserati GranCabrio Sport as it goes on sale this summer. Price is yet to be announced.

One such vehicle is the new Range Rover Evoque, the lightest and most fuel efficient among all Range Rovers.

This vehicle is unique and different from all other Range Rover productions, basically because it looks and functions more like a car than an SUV. But Range Rover still prefers to consider it as an SUV—the smallest and lightest one they ever built. It’s universally known that the brand only manufactures tough and off-road vehicles so the new Evoque definitely adds a new twist to their current line. The company has decided to name it Evoque so it will be recognized easily across all cultures and languages. The vehicle is set to conquer the world with its trademark Range Rover sporty sophistication, minus the bulk and the large gas consumption all Rovers are known for.

According to Phil Popham, managing director of Land Rover, “The all-new Range Rover Evoque is a true global car and will be sold in over 160 countries. It was important to give the car a name that was instantly recognizable through language and cultural boundaries throughout the world.”

Thus, the brand name Evoque was born, a name which the company hopes will arouse an emotional appeal to a larger market. Even the SUV’s design was aesthetically dramatic with its sloping roof and rising waistline.

“We wanted to create a new name which was innovative and different. A name which implies exclusivity and arouses emotions, Evoque is cosmopolitan and cross-continental, sophisticated and matches the car’s urban elegance,” Popham added.

Evoque is powered by a four-cylinder engine that can produce a maximum of 240 horsepower.

The lightest Range Rover will hit the market this fall with an estimated price of $ 45,000.

Another company unveiled their new production concept ahead of the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. German supercar giant Gumpert announced its latest concept, the 2012 Tornante, will be revealed at the much-awaited auto show, stirring excitement among car enthusiasts.

Gumpert commissioned Italian design firm Touring Superleggera to provide the artistic touch needed to make the Tornante an extremely unique supercar. Designed as a two-seater coupe, this amazing car will be equipped with a new central engine chassis powered by a V8 Bi-Turbo mechanism that can churn out a jaw-dropping 700 horsepower.

Touring Superleggera made the new Tornante as spacious and elegant as possible without sacrificing comfort and the over-all sporty look. Together with Gumpert, the companies achieved a distinct Italian luxury sports car look mixed with high-end German technology. It’s the kind of vehicle a lot of sports and luxury car die-hards would give anything to have.

Wanting to look as extraordinary as possible, Gumpert and Touring worked together to come up with a unique, well-balanced design, snipping away any unnecessary add-ons that would clutter the car’s clean look. The rear section has distinct proportions, plus the doors and rear hood has gull-wing openings, adding that highly futuristic look to the supercar.

Gumpert has high hopes that their partnership with Touring will be able to produce the Fast Tourers class—a new line packed with excellent performance, high efficiency and unprecedented driving pleasure.

Gumpert Tornante by Touring will make its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1st. It is expected to cost approximately $400,000.

Chevrolet unveiled on Wednesday a high-performance vehicle most sports car enthusiasts would go crazy for. Welcome the new 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, the most powerful, advanced and fastest Camaro ever produced.

The ZL1 brings the Camaro line to greater heights with higher performance charged by V-8 engine generating approximately 550 horsepower. Not only that, this fast baby is equipped with highly improved chassis and suspension systems for maximum sports car performance.

Rick Scheidt, Vice President of Chevrolet marketing, proudly shares: “Camaro ZL1 is about high-tech performance and design, and is a type of car no one has ever brought to this segment previously. It’s the most technically advanced Camaro ever, so we’ve chosen a name from the most elite and exclusive Camaro in history.”

Chevrolet wanted to bring in a sports car that is extremely fast with exceptional driving dynamics. For the ZL1 concept to materialize, engineers worked together and developed something new from existing Camaro systems. The sports car is also equipped with an electric power steering and extremely responsive suspension system powered by Magnetic Ride Control.

The ZL1’s exterior is also a lot different from other Camaro models. According to Ed Welburn, Vice President for Global Design, “Everything about the ZL1’s design is directly related to its technology and serious performance, especially aerodynamics. Our designers’ goal was to execute that function-oriented design with beautifully sculpted forms, creating an imposing, powerful persona. Function becomes the aesthetic. The intent is a car that delivers on the attitude it projects.”

The ZL1 is still undergoing improvements and revisions before it hits completion later this year. The completed ZL1 will race through the streets early next year.

Porsche painted the town black with the unveiling of its limited 911 Black Edition, an attractively intimidating luxury sports car. The German automaker will make the public crave and clamor for this black beauty with a limited production of only 1, 911 units for the European market. North America, meanwhile, will also have a taste of the black craze with a production of around 575 units—just 30 percent of the global production of 1, 911.

Porsche made sure the Black Edition stayed true to its name—every key aspect and feature of this car is done in black, from its body to its interior. Even the brake calipers are done in black, highlighting its powerful 911 Turbo II 19-inch alloy wheels. You’ll definitely feel special once you take a look at the car’s glove compartment. It displays a badge with the model name and serial number of the vehicle, an emphasis on its limited edition superiority. You’ll also feel more in command with a thick-rimmed SportDesign steering wheel for easier grip and driving comfort. A Bose surround-audio system and Porsche Communication Management touch screen are also incorporated to showcase the vehicle’s technological advancement.

Aside from being aesthetically powerful, the Porsche Black also has remarkable engine performance. It’s packed with a six-cylinder, 3.6-liter flat-6 engine that can reach up to 345 horsepower and 289 km/h at top speed.

The 911 Porsche Limited Black Edition will be available in the UK and Ireland on April with a price tag of around $ 81, 300 for the Coupe and
$ 91, 300 for the Cabriolet.

The auction at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale is one of the highly anticipated events of the year. It’s where you get to see remarkable machines from various eras. Joining the auction is like experiencing a fusion of the past and the present at its finest. Honestly, I appreciate it more than the recently concluded Detroit Auto Show.

One of the eye catching rides on display at the Barrett-Jackson is the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette which is an iconic American sports car. The 1963 Chevrolet Corvette features a unique split rear window which was employed solely for the 1963 model year. The split window also serves as one of the legacies of Zora Arkus-Duntoy also known as the “Father of Corvette” for General Motors.

The 1963 Chevrolet Corvette is described as the car Duntoy would have built to win Le Mans. It’s also one of the most sought after and prized Corvettes. This custom coupe has an engine hidden under its bodywork. The engine is situated at the middle of the car and not in front like our modern vehicles today. It is powered by a twin-turbo LS V8. This eight cylinder machine is capable of producing 1,000 horsepower and 915 pound-feet of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than 3 seconds.

The other remarkable features of this iconic Corvette are its unique doors which open like drawers (courtesy of its cleverly designed scissor mechanism), hidden headlamps, peaked fender lines and a dramatic dual-cove instrument panel.

If I have the dough I would bid for this baby. But for now I’ll just dream away. Hey, they said that visualization can help in making your dreams come true. I’ll probably try that…who knows I just might find the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette parked in my garage.
