The 28th annual 10 Best Cars competition hosted by Car and Driver named its winners in the January 2010 issue. The list was condensed from 58 models, which were mainly comprised of the 2009 Best 10 and those that are going to be released not later than January of next year. There were three areas to consider in the selection process: 1) How well does this car perform its intended mission? Does a given luxury car, for example, ride harshly? Does it sacrifice rear-seat headroom for an aggressive tumblehome? 2) Is this a highly engaging, fun-to-drive vehicle in its category? Does it compel the driver to get in and enjoy it? And 3) What kind of value does it represent? How much goodness does it deliver for its price? (The target price was $35,000 to $80,000 cap)
Basing on those requirements, the nominees were resized to:
Acura TL 6-sp manual • Acura ZDX • Audi A5 2•0T • Audi A6 3•0T • Audi S4 • Audi S5 Cabriolet • Audi TTS • BMW Z4 • BMW 3-series/M3 • Buick LaCrosse • Cadillac CTS/CTS-V • Chevrolet Camaro • Chevrolet Corvette/Grand Sport/Z06 • Ford Fusion/Fusion hybrid • Ford Mustang/Shelby GT500 • Ford Taurus/Taurus SHO • Honda Accord • Honda Fit • Honda Insight • Hyundai Genesis coupe • Infiniti G37 • Jaguar XF/XFR • Kia Forte/Forte Koup • Kia Soul • Lexus HS250h • Lexus IS convertible • Lincoln MKS EcoBoost • Lotus Evora* • Lotus Exige S 260 Sport • Mazda MX-5 Miata • Mazda 3/Mazdaspeed 3 • Mercedes-Benz E-class • Nissan Cube • Nissan 370Z • Pontiac G8 GXP* • Pontiac Solstice coupe* • Porsche Boxster / Cayman • Porsche 911 Carrera • Subaru Legacy • Subaru Outback • Suzuki Kizashi • Toyota Prius • Toyota Venza • Volkswagen Golf*/GTI

From the look of it, you can identify where the concept came from—the Evo MR. In fact, it’s not only the appeal but even the six-speed dual-clutch automated manual gearbox. There is also something new, though. That is the obnoxious rear wing. Still, the full leather upholstery makes up for that. These interior comforts include heated seats and sunroof. Of course, fully dressing the Evo up have tried to conceal the similarity. There are the auto headlamps and insulated windshield that rounds the new trim. Inside, there is also a new stylistic center console with more improved materials to complete the dress up.
As to the drive, STEVE SILER of Car And Driver describes it as ‘ A slightly more evolved Evo
UK’s The Guardian has it: Volkswagen passed world’s largest automaker Toyota Motors and America’s biggest General Motors.
It might actually a play of numbers but there are facts to support this. The German automaker had recently taken over Porsche, which makes them a 4.4-million automobile builder as of today. Still, that is 400,000 beyond Toyota’s creation. But with the Japanese automaker’s closed plants, there is nothing more to expect from them. Now, VW also got the biggest market share from the European version of Cash for Clunkers. These realities have finally got the marquee on top.
Still, The Guardian is not expecting this to last too long. Toyota is eyeing a 70% total production this year from their yearly capacity of 10 million. If the figures are realized, that will strip VW back to where it belonged.
The title might give you a heart attack but that is only to grab the attention. To these days, in its two decades in the industry, Infiniti has yet to measure up with the German automaker. The thing is that the M series is becoming more and more athletic just like the 5-series of BMW. It embraced the concept of nice but slightly different front end and larger wheels. The M37/ M56 wear 20-inch wheels. Inside, the 2011 Infiniti Ms are more spacious and spot-on gorgeous. It even offers a breeze mode that mimics the natural breezes.
2011 Infiniti M37/M56 sports a direct-injected version of the 5.6-liter V-8 truck engine that claims 420 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Clearly, these trims are the most powerful in the automaker’s vehicle lineup these days.
I never dreamed that race cars will work on tracks like the ones we have at home—electrically charged! But we are almost in the 21st century so everything can be possible. Look at ewolf, who knew it will look this good and perform just as well? Engadget dot com tells all….
There’s certainly no shortage of hurdles to cross in building a competitive, all-electric race car, with the weight of the vehicle (and requisite battery pack) being particularly high up on the list. While the folks behind this new E-Wolf e1 vehicle have indeed managed to get the weight down to an impressive 500 kilograms (or just over 1,100 pounds), they’ve also taken another somewhat unique step to ensure the performance is just right: limit the weight of the driver to 150 pounds. That, combined with a 110kW, quadripolar, liquid-cooled, AC induction motor, apparently allows the car to hit 0 to 100 km/h in less than five seconds, achieve a top speed of 230 km/h, and last a full 300 kilometers on a charge. Of course, it also costs €150,000 (or over $220,000), but it is apparently street-legal, and definitely won’t be mistaken for a Tesla Roadster.
We all know for sure that automobiles are grand but pricey possessions. But of course, that is just natural since this offers a ready transportation at any time and any place. Still, there are some makes and models that are priced much, much higher than what they are really worth of. Forbes dot com and msnbc dot come joined forces to round up the 5 overpriced automobiles in the industry. In highest to lowest, they cited Dodge Ram, Mercury grand marquis, Ford F-150, Dodge Durango, and GMC Envoy.
The list has been made due to two big criteria: the market list and the Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) survey results by J.D. Power.
The first time I saw a picture of Covini C6W, I thought it was just an edited picture or something close to that. All because the sporty and unconventionally boxed car is equipped with 6 wheels, which I think is absurd. But it turned out that the car is alright. The fact is, it is not even just a concept vehicle but actually hit productions! It was launched as the first six-wheeled supercar in the big auto industry. It sports a powerhouse that can make more than 400 horsepower and achieve 300 km/h! The car is really amazing, but there is a catch: the driving public finds it unfitting.
The Covini C6W is simply something unique. But apparently, not many wants to drive a non-conventional looking ride, even if it’s a supercar! The waning number of market for this vehicle forced its designer and manufacturer to come up with something more enticing than a 6-wheel car. Result: the Covini C6W will be just another memory in the history of our auto industry gone wild..
With the CARS Act in its full swing, anyone, and I really mean just anyone can own a brand new model like my favorite 2009 Malibu! Just imagine cashing in about $3,500 for an old and clunking inefficient ride in favor a better mileage and fuel economic modeled ride! Cool, don’t you think so? In all the excitement I am feeling right now, I still have managed to compose this post and even made a complete, alphabetically arranged list of the vehicles eligible for the trade. Since I am really in a hurry trying to figure out which of which will I get and from where, do the checking on dealers of the details. These are just makes and models, so definitely there will be many trims under them.
What are you waiitng for? Pull that clunker from your garage and make good money out of it! Just imagine how your neighbors will look at you when you drive home one of the list’s model cars!
My former boss of 3 years owned a flaming red Honda Civic, which is really great inside and out. I enjoyed traveling in that comfortable car even at extended hours and under different weather conditions. With those memories in my mind, I don’t have any doubt it will make for best car. So when Cars.com claims that Civic is among the most popular cars sold from July to September of 2008, I was not surprised. Not even when Consumer Reports chose it as the best used car in the small car class. They were right; it is reliable, economical, and fun to drive.
